Why do headaches occur
It is not always possible to find the main reasons for a headache even if the most modern diagnostic methods are used. Neurologists distinguish between more than 150 types of headaches.
The main reasons for a headache
- Colds accompanied by high temperature, shiver, a runny nose, cough, and unpleasant feelings in the area of the forehead and maxillary sinuses.
- Pains caused by tooth and gum diseases, wrongly set dentures.
- High blood pressure (arterial hypertension) leading to painful feelings mainly in the area of the occiput and temples.
- Low blood pressure which apart from headaches can cause dizziness, general weakness and syncope.
- Migraine is a frequent reason for headaches (it appears suddenly, paroxysmally and affects one half of the head).
- Headaches accompany traumatic brain injures (concussion, cerebral contusion, cerebral compression).
- Tension headaches: the whole head is aching (constrictive feelings of the “helmet” type). These symptoms may appear due to fatigue, stress, being in one position for a long time (working at the computer during the working day and even after it at home), cervical (neck) osteochondrosis.
